This weekend come out and enjoy the Zilker Garden Festival 2014! With offerings such as the annual Flower Show, Vendors from Central Texas and Austin, Austin music in the Rose Garden, Scheduled Garden Talks, an awesome Food Court and the Children’s Corner; this year’s Festival is the place to be for fun and education!

This is a family friendly event that offers something for everyone!

The Flower Show In The Garden Center
The theme for this year’s show is Grandma’s Kitchen and it is presented by the Violet Crown Garden Club & Capital City Judges Council.

Live Music From The Sound Stage in the Rose Garden
Both Saturday and Sunday come by the Rose Garden to enjoy a variety of music from Austin Artists. There’s no extra charge for some unforgettable music, with a variety sure to please.

Gardening Talks Under The Big White Tent
Local gardening experts will share on a variety of subjects for novice and seasoned gardeners.

3:30pm – Rain Harvesting Made Easy with Jason Roucloux

Kids’ Corner in the Rose Garden
The kiddos can learn about plants, build a birdhouse or bird feeder, make butterfly wings and dinosaur masks or have their faces painted. It’s never too early to start loving plants! Come to the Rose Garden and look for the signs. Be sure to get your free plant to take home and grow.

The Food Court in the Oak Grove on the Escarpment Trail
The food court this year will surely please everyone in the family! Here’s a list of the vendors; Amy’s Ice Creams, Hill Country Kettle Korn, Crepe Crazy, Texas Traditional Bar-B-Q and Juanita’s Botanitas.

Vendors from Austin and Central Texas
Plant vendors will be selling a variety of plants; including natives, annuals and perennials, vegetables and herbs and orchids. You can also shop for crafts, ceramic pottery, jewelry, clothing, herbal products and garden hats.

Zilker Garden Festival is co-sponsored by the Austin Area Garden Council (AAGC) and the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department (PARD). The festival is the primary fundraiser for AAGC, and proceeds support Zilker Botanical Garden.

Important Information:
There will be no pets allowed in the gardens and there is a no smoking ban by the city of Austin. Parking for the festival will be in the Polo Fields across from the front entrance to Zilker Botanical Garden on Barton Springs Road from 8 am to 6pm both days and the cost is $5 per vehicle. Please don’t park under the Mopac median. Cars will be ticketed and towed. Bike racks will be provided inside the fence to the left of the front entrance. Bring your lock.
