And that it is normal for children to feel the stress of moving, they may react by regressing in their behavior. They may go back to behavior like thumb sucking and bed wetting, it is just stress and as they become more comfortable with the new home they will regain their abilities and continue to develop.
Also, by understanding what your children are going through you can gently soothe them and help them come through the move much more quickly.
They share that parents may have mixed feeling about the move too, but if they feel somewhat optimistic then the children will pick up on that. It is important to be honest about our feeling and not hide them from our children. One of the most important things parents can do is let their children know their feelings of anger and sadness are not about them. It is important to make the children feel loved and let them know that the whole family will get through the move together.
