Selling Your Home – How To Hold An Open House
There’s a lot to be gained by holding an open house. You are letting your neighborhood know that your home is available and ready for purchase. It is also possible that one of your neighbors knows someone who is looking to buy a home. Who knows, one of your neighbors might sell your home for you.
If you advertise your open house, then you are letting your entire community know that your home is available. A lot of people are busy and want to use an agent, but there are just as many buyers who would rather not pay the premium to use an agent. Either way, the more people who know your house is available, the better.
The very first and most important thing to do before you hold your open house is to be sure it is ready. This means that everything is in the best condition possible and all repairs have been done. You have probably seen the do it yourself show on TV where they come in and have the owners remove excessive furniture and all clutter and personal items from the home. You may need a storage unit to store extra stuff while your home is on the market.
This applies to the exterior as well as the interior of your home. Mow the lawn, cut down overgrown shrubbery, get rid of stumps in the yard and plant some flowers out front. You’ll want to show your home in it’s most favorable light possible.
