New Year’s Old Wives Tales With A Twist

Published on December 30th, 2013

New Year’s Old Wives Tales With A Twist. This year, instead of the old tired and sometimes frightening wives-tales; we thought we’d come up with some new twists on the old tales…and a few that are just too sweet to change.

If you wash clothes on New Year’s Day you will bring someone new into the family during the year, maybe a baby.

If you have a fireplace get up early and be the first one in the door bringing wood for the fire. This way your hearth will never be cold during the upcoming year.

Eat black-eyed peas, cabbage or sauerkraut sometime during the day on New Year’s Day for good luck though-out the year.

Sweep your floors clean to make way for new ideas that bring your dreams to pass during the new year.

Open all windows and doors to let in the good luck for the new year.

At New Year’s Eve have a man or boy go out one door and in the other to bring good luck all year long.

Hang your calendars on New Year’s Day to bring in the good luck of the new year.

Whistle or sing while you work on New Year’s Day to set the tone for happiness while you work all year long.

Tell jokes and laugh at midnight for a joyful new year.

Children born on New Year’s Day bring great fortune and prosperity to all the household.

To dance in the open air, especially round a tree, on New Year’s Day, is declared to ensure luck in love and prosperity and freedom for the coming twelve months.

Kiss those dearest to us at midnight to share a moment of celebration with our favorite people and to ensure those affections and ties will continue throughout the next twelve months.

If you build a fire on New Year’s Eve keep it going until the stoke of midnight or after for good luck in the new year.

Whatever you do to bring in the New Year we hope it is your best year yet!!!
