Zilker Park – Cool Things To Do In Austin

Zilker Park is a very cool place to visit in Austin. It is a large park next to Laby Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake). Zilker Part has lots of fun activities.

You could ride on the Zilker Zephyr miniature train or paddle your canoe across Lady Bird Lake.

There is a large multi-age play ground, hiking and biking trails and large full service reservable picnic areas.

For swimming and water fun; Zilker Park is the home of Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring-fed pool with a year-round average temperature of 68 degrees.

If you’re into sports there are two multi-use fields, sand volleyball courts and a nine-hole disc golf course.

Also in Zilker Park you will find the Zilker Botanical Gardens, which includes the Taniguchi Oriental Garden and the Austin Area Garden Center. And the Austin Nature and Science Center, which offers a wide variety of programs for children and adults.

The Zilker Hillside Theatre hosts concerts of all kinds from blues to country. Also this is where you’ll find the Zilker Summer Musical and Shakespeare in the Park. You’ll need a blanket to sit on.

Zilker Park is open for public use each day from 5am to 10pm unless otherwise posted.

Zilker Park charges a parking fee of $5 per car from mid-March to Labor Day weekend each year on weekends and holidays.
