Tree Talk Winter Walk at The Wildflower Center Austin 2014.

Want to learn about the trees in our area, how to care for them and prevent disease? How to plant and when to plant? You will love the Tree Talk Winter Walk at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center offered January 25th, 2014.

It’s free to get in and they are pairing this event with a tree and shrub sale. The winter months are a great time to plant tress and during the day you will learn which understory trees are best for your yard, which trees are best for wildlife habitats, how to keep your trees strong and how to identify and treat Oak Wilt.

There will be plenty of activities for the children too! Kids can climb trees with professional arborists, have fun building a fort with branches and tree limbs and go on a tree scavenger hunt with a prize sapling for those who finish.  Other activities for children include counting tree rigs, making paper tree cookies and making a leaf rubbing booklet.
