If you love animals then the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary will be a place you’ll want to visit, over and over. They are a non-profit zoo that rescues animals in the Austin community.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors each year enjoy the beautiful Texas Hill Country setting where they can see the animals close up and personal.
The mission of Austin Zoo and Animal Sancturary is to assist animals in need. They rescue, rehabilitate and educate. Whether you want to visit with your family or plan a trip for your school class or scout troop, they would love to see you, and so would their animals.
Austin Zoo is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization, and they rely on private donations, gate admissions, grants and sponsorships to continue to care for the animals they have, and to be able to take in new animals that need a safe home.
The zoo started out as a goat ranch and in 1990 became the Good Day Ranch, catering to animals in need. Today the ranch is home to over 300 species of exotic and domestic animals.

Zoo Hours
Regular Hours (February 1 – October 31)
Open daily from 9:30am – 6:00pm (No entry after 5:00pm)
The gift shop closes at 5:00pm
Winter Hours (November 1 – January 31)
Open daily from 10:00am – 5:30pm (No entry after 4:30pm)
Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
The gift shop closes at 4:30pm
