This winter Ballet Austin offers several Kids in Motion Dance and Movement Workshops
This winter bring your children to Ballet Austin for some fun and exercise. This season they are offering several classes for children that include dance, play and music, in fun environments, created just for the little ones.
Stories & Music in Motion! Valentine’s Fun! For Preschoolers & Parents to do together! (toddlers through age 5)
This is a 45 minute workshop based on the book Happy Valentine’s Day Mouse! by Laura Numeroff. This holiday workshop includes a story, movement, music and play.
They encourage parents and children to dress in Valentine colors or as a storybook character. And parents be ready to move along with the class to get your fun workout too.
This class is offered on Wednesday February 12th, from 11am to 11:45am. The $15 fee covers parent and child. They are asking that you sign-up ahead of time, as space is limited.
Kids Bollywood Dance – ages 8 -12
This fun class will introduce children to the authentic and beautiful Bollywood dance styles of India. The kids will enjoy being active during this colorful experience of music and dance.
“Bollywood dancing got its name from Indian dance styles used in the Mumbai-based Hindi-language film industry in India. Even our First Lady has danced Bollywood! It’s so much fun!”
This 4 week class is offered on Saturdays, January 25th until February 15th. From 12:15pm to 1pm. The fee is $60 for the 4 week series.
Kids Dance Around the World – ages 5 – 8 (For parents to join in too if they want to!)
Parents are welcome for this fun workshop! You and your child will experience music and dance from countries and cultures around the world including African Dance, Latin American Salsa, Indian Bollywood and several folk dances. These classes will use props, maracas, drums and ribbons as the children get moving and learn about dance styles from cultures around the world.
Parents are encouraged to come to this workshop and dance with your children!
“Dancing together allows parents and kids to focus less on “exercise” and more on “active” time spent together. Being active together brings families together. Through the fun and variety of Kids Dance Around the World children can learn at an early age how important and fun it is to make physical fitness a part of daily life. Parents “working out” and dancing with their kids also provides the extra bonus of spending quality time together.”
This 4 week class is offered on Thursdays, January 23rd through February 13th, from 4pm to 4:45pm. The fee is $60 for the 4 week series.
