Located just 17 minutes from downtown Austin, Cedar Park has plenty to offer it’s citizens. With 400% growth in the last decade it is no wonder Forbes Magazine labels Cedar Park as one of the fastest-growing suburbs in America!
The city of Cedar Park was founded in 1887 and incorporated as a city in 1973. With current population exceeding 54,000 Cedar Park is the third largest city in the Austin area. Offering close proximity to Austin and the Texas Hill Country and the beauty of the Lower Colorado River System Cedar Park attracts residents from all over.
The City was named as one of the Top Ten Places to Raise a Family by Family Circle Magazine. With 860 acres of park space, the city lists 46 different parks and green belts. The Cedar Bark Park offers a natural dog pond, pet waste stations, benches, drinking fountains and a dog shower.
The city opened it’s new multi-use entertainment facility in 2008 Cedar Park Center hosts more than 130 events per year, including sporting events, concerts and family shows.
The Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is just north of Cedar Park, conserving the nesting habitat of certain endangered birds. Also available at the refuge are festivals, hiking guides, carefully managed hunts, bird watching and hiking.
“Like much of the area, the refuge’s roadsides and prairies transform to brilliant wildflower gardens each spring, accenting the emerald, olive and forest green of the Hill Country. The flowers in turn attract a myriad of butterflies. In summer, at least 37 kinds of dragonflies zip across refuge ponds, streams and meadows in hot pursuit of their insect prey.”
