LBJ Presidential Library
LBJ Presidential Library – “It is all here: the story of our time with the bark off…This library will show the facts, not just the joy and triumphs, but the sorrow and failures, too.” —from the words of Lyndon Baines Johnson at the dedication of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, May 22, 1971.
When you’re looking for something to do in Austin, here’s a great idea! The LBJ Presidential Library preserves the story of not only our 36th President, but also our country during his term. You’ll find the library located on a 30 acre site on The University of Texas Campus and you’ll also be among around 100,000 other visitors from all over the world who come to the LBJ Presidential Library each year.
What You’ll Find At The Library – “the Library houses 45 million pages of historical documents, 650,000 photos and 5,000 hours of recordings from President Johnson’s political career, including about 643 hours of his recorded telephone conversations.”
The beautiful ten-story building displays a four-story glass encased archive collection with a photo-engraving mural by artist Naomi Savage.
The Store at LBJ – Offering for sale: gifts, memorabilia showing President Johnson’s life and that of his family and souvenirs. Also offering many products reflecting Lady Bird Johnson’s love of our environment and the beauty of our country. The mission of The Store at LBJ is to support the Library.
