Austin Dogtoberfest 2013 – Cool Things To Do In Austin

This looks like a fun family activity! Austin Dogtoberfest 2013 was created to raise money for Austin dog rescue, so come on out and enjoy the day, it’s sure to put a smile on your face!

Held at the Domain, this years festivities include Pet Portraits, Wiener Dog Races, Canine Costume Contest, a Silent Auction, Raffle Drawings, Austin Police Demonstrations, Food Court and Dogtobertrot.  Bring your children and dogs because you won’t want to miss this fun and creative way to help local dogs in need.  All proceeds go directly to the Dogtoberfest rescue groups.

Pet Portraits – This event is sponsored by Neiman Marcus, for a $5 donation you get a 5×7 photo of your family pooch in front of a custom backdrop.  Also Nicle Mlakar-Livingston will be taking pictures throughout the day.  After the event you’ll be able to order her photos, there will be a link on the Dogtoberfest website.

Wiener Dog Races – Sponsored by Central Texas Dachshund Rescue, these entertaining races are held between Macy’s and the main stage.  They are saying that this race fills up quickly so arrive early and go to the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue booth to register.  Booth opens at 10am.

Canine Costume Contest – The categories for this event are Funniest, Best Owner/Dog duo, Best Super Hero and Most Creative.  Prizes will be awarded for each category and for Best in Show.  It’s free to enter but you must register at the KXAN booth.  They are saying there’s limited space, registration opens at 10am.

Silent Auction – The silent auction is the main fundraiser for the day and all proceeds go directly to the rescue groups.  This activity is located adjacent to the main stage and features items from the Domain vendors and many other Austin businesses.

Raffle Drawings – Ticket prices are $5 for 5 tickets or 25 tickets for $20.  You can purchase tickets at the table located by the main stage.  All proceeds go directly to the rescue groups.

Demonstration Station – You’ll find this activity between Macy’s and the main stage.   Featuring the Austin Police K-9 Department.

Food Court – Located in the street area between Brighton Collectables and Lucky Brand Jeans, Domain restaurant partners are offering discounted rates on food and drink.

Dogtobertrot – Before heading over to the Dogtoberfest there will be a 1K Trot around the Domain Phase II.  It’s $25 per team, 1 dog and 1 human.  For the price of your registration you will get an entry to the TROT, an event t-shirt, Doggie bag filled with items from sponsors and Domain II vendors and a raffle ticket.
