Christmas in Austin – The Trail of Lights

Happy Holidays 2013 Everybody! This year during the Holiday season bring the family and enjoy the Trail of Lights at Zilker Park.

The Trail of Lights is a 1.25 mile walk, featuring over 36 custom displays, live entertainment, souvenirs and gifts, the Zilker Tree, photo ops and a 5k run. So plan to come out and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas and the Holiday season! The Trail of Lights runs for two weeks, from December 8th through the 22nd.

Food – Come hungry and enjoy tacos, pizza, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and lots more from Austin’s food trailers right along the trail.

Entertainment – it’s a little early to share this years line-up but here’s a sampling of who was there last year. Jerry Jeff Walker

Shopping – Local merchants and artists offer unique gifts and souvenirs.

Zilker Tree – First lighting in 1967, this 155 foot tree is lit with 3,309 multicolored lights and on top is a double star.

Photos – At various locations along the trail you can have your picture taken with seasonal favorites such as Santa’s workshop. Also available is the Austin skyline background or be fitted with antlers for your perfect shot.

5K Run – “Join us for the Annual Trail of Lights 5K Fun Run on Saturday December 7, 2013. It’s a great way to start the legendary Austin holiday tradition and help to kick off a brilliant season. Run alongside Santa, elves and maybe a few reindeer – just slow down enough to enjoy the lights. The Trail of Lights 5K Presented by Humana consists of 5K run and a Family Mile. Both events are open to adults and kids, and each course concludes with a stretch through the Trail of Lights. Run time is 6:30 pm.”
