Keep Austin Weird Festival and 5K 2013 – Cool Things To Do In Austin

Published on April 8th, 2013

If you love Austin Texas then you won’t want to miss the 11th annual Keep Austin Weird Festival and 5K 2013 this June! What a great opportunity to celebrate the capitol city of Texas! Expect unique, expect weird, expect psychedelic music, expect local artisans, bands, family activities and don’t forget the vendors with yummy food.

The philosophy of this festival is go big or go home. And they are backing it up with a promise of “one ultimate blowout party”.

“Think of this festival as the ultimate toast to Austin, a toast to hospitality, fun and a sense of community. No need to hide your kids or hide your wives (or husbands) as there are plenty of fun shenanigans for any Austinite in attendance.”

Ride Your Bike – there will be a bike valet, bring your bike to the parking corral near the east gate entrance and stop by the Mellow Johnny’s tent. They will mark you and your bike with wrist bands and watch your bike while you enjoy the festival. No need to bring your lock.

This doesn’t sound like a normal 5K, and so it shouldn’t! For example, this is a list of last years fun stops along the race…
Amy’s Ice Cream, Austin Culture Map, Brats ‘n Beer, Core Power, Deep Eddy Vodka, Dos Equis, Dub Academy – DJ, H-E-B, Juanita’s Bonitas,Luke’s Locker, Mud Puppies, Nike, Pinot’s Palette, Vitamin Water, Windsor Communities, Yellow Cab and Zico

The Keep Austin Weird Festival and 5K is on Saturday, June 22nd. The festival opens at 2pm, the 5K starts at 7pm.
