Making Moving Easier For Your Children

Published on September 19th, 2012

In an effort to make your move smoother and less stressful, here’s an article that gives great ideas for making moving easier for your children.

Making children part of the process and letting them put in their ideas is a way to make them feel more valuable. Here are several practical ways to bring your children into the move. There’s an idea for making a memory box, to fill with pictures and articles from their friends. There’s also an idea for making a treasure box, this would hold special small toys and your child’s favorite things. He/She can use crayons and stickers to decorate the box and take it in the car (so it stays close) during the move.

Another idea is to help your child create a picture board of how his/her new room will be, including paint swatches and pictures of furniture and fabrics. And one more, have a goodbye party for you and your child, invite friends and family and have hot dogs or pot luck.

By just doing one or two of the suggestions your move will be easier and your child will feel included.
