Moving To A New City – Do Your Homework

Are you moving to a new city? That’s awesome!!! It’s time to embrace a new adventure. In this series we will discuss ways to get to know your new city, make friends and get comfortable.

First thing is to do some research about your new city. Get online and read about your city, check out the city website. They may have information about the city’s history and museums and lots more. If you haven’t moved yet, you can contact the Chamber of Commerce in the city you are moving to and ask them to send you a package of information, ask them for things you are interested in, like parks or libraries, or health care. If you have already moved, go by and see them and get the scoop first-hand.

If possible, visit the city you are moving to and drive around, get off the main highways and check out the parks and shopping centers. Or take a lunch and enjoy the weather, if you can. Get out of your car and walk around and really get the feel of things.

Drive around in the neighborhood where you will be living, pay special attention to the restaurants and specialty stores that are close by. Once you get moved in you will know just where you want to go first.

We wish you the best with your move!
