Texas Round-Up and Family Mile 2013 – Cool Things To Do In Austin

Bring your partner, bring your family, this fun day has something for everybody! The Texas Round-Up and Family mile 2013 is sure to bring a smile to your face. Of course they are expecting picture perfect weather for this fun day.

The event features a regular 5K, and a Partner 5K, and when they say partner they really mean anything goes, the categories are married, more than friends, soul sisters, bromance, just friends, mother/son, mother/daughter, father/son, father/daughter, grandparent/child, siblings, relatives, co-workers and coach/athlete. Now I’m sure you can fit you and your partner in there somewhere! The scoring for the Partner 5K will be based on the combined time.

You can also bring your family and run the Family Mile. All three events start and finish on North Congress Avenue in front of The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, between 17th and 18th streets. For the family mile the course goes south around the Texas State Capitol and returns to the start.

The Individual 5K and the Partner 5K both start on North Congress, head toward the Capitol and then north around some of the University and back to finish.

Be sure to stick around for the finish party and awards. You will enjoy snacks, drinks, games and live music. Awards will be given for the Individual and Partner 5K’s and children 14 and under will receive awards for finishing in any of the three events.

Partner 5K Run – $70
Individual 5K Run – $40
Family Mile – $15

There’s free parking at the parking garages located off Trinity Street between 12th St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. There is also ample on-street parking in the vicinity of the capitol complex. Meter parking downtown on Saturday is free.

Each year, we organize the Texas Round-Up 5K and Family Mile to provide an incentive and inviting entry into a health and fitness based lifestyle. We work with organizations throughout Texas to help their members and employees take that first step towards healthy living.

The current initiative of the Texas Round-Up is to increase youth participation in sport. Proceeds from the Texas Round-Up 5K and Family Mile event are donated to public elementary schools in Texas so that they may improve the opportunities of youth to participate in sports and fitness. The Texas Round-Up is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.”
