New Year’s Old Wives Tales With A Twist
Comments Off on New Year’s Old Wives Tales With A Twist
New Year’s Old Wives Tales With A Twist. This year, instead of the old tired and sometimes frightening wives-tales; we thought we’d come up with some new twists on the old tales…and a few that are just too sweet to change.
If you wash clothes on New Year’s Day you will bring someone new into the family during the year, maybe a baby.
If you have a fireplace get up early and be the first one in the door bringing wood for the fire. This way your hearth will never be cold during the upcoming year.
Eat black-eyed peas, cabbage or sauerkraut sometime during the day on New Year’s Day for good luck though-out the year.
Sweep your floors clean to make way for new ideas that bring your dreams to pass during the new year.
Open all windows and doors to let in the good luck for the new year.
At New Year’s Eve have a man or boy go out one door and in the other to bring good luck all year long.
Hang your calendars on New Year’s Day to bring in the good luck of the new year.
Whistle or sing while you work on New Year’s Day to set the tone for happiness while you work all year long.
Tell jokes and laugh at midnight for a joyful new year.
Children born on New Year’s Day bring great fortune and prosperity to all the household.
To dance in the open air, especially round a tree, on New Year’s Day, is declared to ensure luck in love and prosperity and freedom for the coming twelve months.
Kiss those dearest to us at midnight to share a moment of celebration with our favorite people and to ensure those affections and ties will continue throughout the next twelve months.
If you build a fire on New Year’s Eve keep it going until the stoke of midnight or after for good luck in the new year.
Whatever you do to bring in the New Year we hope it is your best year yet!!!

Why Do We Move?
Comments Off on Why Do We Move?
Why do we move? As you know we are a very migrant society, with most of us moving every few years. Ever wonder why this is? Here are some ideas, you may find you own reasons for moving among these.
The Need For More Room – When families grow they need more room. Many times young couples purchase a home that fits their budget and makes sense at the time. Then as children come along, and space gets tight it becomes more and more obvious that it’s time to move on to a new place.
Job Transfer – Many times families move to new communities or to new countries because of job requirements. As we grow in our careers and earn more money we have a chance to not only experience new places but purchase larger homes as well.
Upgrading – It does seem to be human nature to move on to what is now wanted. Whether it be the desire for a larger and more spacious home or to get away from problems with the old home, many home moves are made because now there is more cash available and it’s time to get what is wanted. It’s a good thing really, onward and upward!
Changes in Relationships – With the divorce rate at around 50% or so, it’s not surprising that many moves revolve around changes in personal relationships. But it’s not always about relationships breaking up, many times it’s about new relationships and marriages coming together that causes us to pack up and make a move.
Other relationships create the need for us to move also. Families who want to see each other more often move closer to one another. Parents sometimes move closer to grown children to help with the growing families or because they need care from their children as they age. There is also sometimes the desire to move away from family members we don’t get along with.
Need For Less Room – After the children move out it’s often beneficial for the empty nesters to downsize. They may want to move to locations that are warmer or just let go of so many rooms to clean or get away from those stairs. As our population ages we are seeing a lot of this. With special restrictive neighborhoods popping up where residents must be of a certain age.
Change of Life Focus – Many homeowners want to take the money out of their homes to pursue other interests and hobbies such as traveling, or they may not want to have the responsibility that comes along with home-ownership. Dreams change and along with them comes the need for new living arrangements.

Merry Christmas Austin Family!!!
Comments Off on Merry Christmas Austin Family!!!
We wanted to pause from our moving duties for a moment to send all of you a Christmas Wish..
We hope you and yours have a very, very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
The following is a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge written in 1799.
A Christmas Carol
The shepherds went their hasty way,
And found the lowly stable-shed
Where the Virgin-Mother lay:
And now they checked their eager tread,
For to the Babe, that at her bosom clung,
A Mother’s song the Virgin-Mother sung.
They told her how a glorious light,
Streaming from a heavenly throng,
Around them shone, suspending night!
While sweeter than a mother’s song,
Blest Angels heralded the Saviour’s birth,
Glory to God on high! and Peace on Earth.
She listened to the tale divine,
And closer still the Babe she pressed;
And while she cried, the Babe is mine!
The milk rushed faster to her breast:
Joy rose within her, like a summer’s morn;
Peace, Peace on Earth! the Prince of Peace is born.
Thou Mother of the Prince of Peace,
Poor, simple, and of low estate!
That strife should vanish, battle cease,
O why should this thy soul elate?
Sweet Music’s loudest note, the Poet’s story, —
Didst thou ne’er love to hear of fame and glory?
And is not War a youthful king,
A stately Hero clad in mail?
Beneath his footsteps laurels spring;
Him Earth’s majestic monarchs hail
Their friend, their playmate! and his bold bright eye
Compels the maiden’s love-confessing sigh.
“Tell this in some more courtly scene,
To maids and youths in robes of state!
I am a woman poor and mean,
And therefore is my soul elate.
War is a ruffian, all with guilt defiled,
That from the agéd father tears his child!
A murderous fiend, by fiends adored,
He kills the sire and starves the son;
The husband kills, and from her board
Steals all his widow’s toil had won;
Plunders God’s world of beauty; rends away
All safety from the night, all comfort from the day.
Then wisely is my soul elate,
That strife should vanish, battle cease:
I’m poor and of a low estate,
The Mother of the Prince of Peace.
Joy rises in me, like a summer’s morn:
Peace, Peace on Earth! the Prince of Peace is born.”
Merry Christmas Austin Family!!!

Moving With Teenagers
Comments Off on Moving With Teenagers
Moving with Teenagers does not need to be difficult when we follow a few common sense ideas. Teenagers are going through one of the hardest times of life, (remember?) so they do need some extra TLC right now. Teenagers are in the stressful growth period of becoming independent while they are still very much dependent upon their parents.
Communication – As with any area of life communication is one of the most valuable strategies for making things go smoother. And listening will be essential when it comes to understanding and helping your teens during your move, or anytime. Be sure to talk with your teenager about the move. Let them know things as soon as you know. They may need some time to feel and you will need to allow them to be angry or upset without making things worse by getting upset yourself.
After the initial shock wears off, it is important that you move into the action aspect of the move as quickly as possible. Helping your teen line out a plan of action for packing his or her belongings and then enlisting their help with packing in other parts of the house will keep the lines of communication open and send the signal that they are an integral part of your family move. Don’t make the mistake of leaving them out of the loop just because they are emotional. Allowing them to talk and letting them know that you value their point of view and their needs and that you are taking all of this into consideration will certainly help them (and you) get through the move much easier.
Allow Them To Pack Their Own Belongings – By allowing your teen to pack his/her own belonging you are telling them that you trust them and respect their space. Just as you would another adult, it’s important that you allow your teen to have their own boundaries. Listen carefully here for their requests for help such as how to pack their technology items or their need for boxes and packing materials and be sure to get them what they need. Giving them clear timetables for having their things packed and ready to go will go a long way in the trust and respect departments.
Get Your Teen Involved in the Move – By now you probably know what your teen is interested in and where at least some of his or her aptitudes lie. If they are good talkers allow them of help you find a moving company by makeing phone calls to local companies for quotes. Be sure to provided the needed support for this by giving them the dates and locations needed. If they are doers, you may want to get them involved with the packing itself, including the organization and purchasing the needed supplies. You can suggest that your teen go online and learn about the new city or new area where you will be living soon and report back to the family with points of interest. If you will include your teenager as much as possible in every aspect of your move they will feel valuable and included, and thereby reducing any friction that might otherwise come up.
We wish you the very best with your move and want you to know that we are here to help in any way we can. You can get a free online quote today!

M&M Super Moving Helps With Two Area Christmas Deliveries
Comments Off on M&M Super Moving Helps With Two Area Christmas Deliveries
Austin, Texas. Santa comes a little early this year for many deserving children, as M&M Super Moving helps with two area Christmas deliveries. For the past 10 years M&M Super Moving has delivered gifts from Riverbend Church’s Angel Tree benefiting CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County.
And again this year we have been blessed to be a part of this joyous initiative! Also this year we are happy to report that we have had the opportunity to deliver toys for the Blue Santa of Austin! Here’s a picture of Blue Santa himself with our trailer.
About CASA – “CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County believes every child who’s been abused or neglected deserves to have a dedicated advocate speaking up for their best interest in court, at school and in our community. To accomplish this, CASA educates and empowers diverse community volunteers who ensure each child’s needs remain a priority in an over-burdened child welfare system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety because the people responsible for protecting them have not, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations and help the judge decide what’s best for the child. ”
About Operation Blue Santa – “Operation Blue Santa is a 501(c)(3) – non-profit, community based corporation, organized by the Austin Police Department, with support from the Texas National Guard, the Austin Fire Department, the Austin Utilities Department and Austin Energy. This charitable outreach began in 1972 when two patrol officers realized that some families on the patrol beat would not have gifts or food for their children at Christmas.”
Merry Christmas Everybody!!!
