Making Moving Easier For Your Children
Comments Off on Making Moving Easier For Your Children
In an effort to make your move smoother and less stressful, here’s an article that gives great ideas for making moving easier for your children.
Making children part of the process and letting them put in their ideas is a way to make them feel more valuable. Here are several practical ways to bring your children into the move. There’s an idea for making a memory box, to fill with pictures and articles from their friends. There’s also an idea for making a treasure box, this would hold special small toys and your child’s favorite things. He/She can use crayons and stickers to decorate the box and take it in the car (so it stays close) during the move.
Another idea is to help your child create a picture board of how his/her new room will be, including paint swatches and pictures of furniture and fabrics. And one more, have a goodbye party for you and your child, invite friends and family and have hot dogs or pot luck.
By just doing one or two of the suggestions your move will be easier and your child will feel included.

Making Your Oversees Move Less Stressful
Comments Off on Making Your Oversees Move Less Stressful
As usual I am always looking for ideas to make moving less stressful and more enjoyable. This time the focus is on making your oversees move less stressful. But, keep in mind that these ideas are also valuable for any move.
The article advises that couples talk to each other in advance, sharing feelings and needs. And that they involve the children as much as possible. Another great piece of advice discussed in the article is preparing as much as possible before the move, there is even a check list (and you know how much I love those) that starts 90 days out and brings you up to the move.
Another important point is to know that you don’t have to stay if you don’t like your new home. It seems sometimes we believe we must stay to save face. Also suggested is to find a way to let off some of the stress, such as walking, listening to music or going for a massage, this way you can diffuse some of the stress as it comes and enjoy your move more.

For Sale By Owner – How To Sell Your Home Yourself
Comments Off on For Sale By Owner – How To Sell Your Home Yourself
Selling your home is not for everybody, but it just might be for you…
For the most part a real estate agent does the following:
Advertises your home
Advises you on how to make your home appealing to a wide variety of buyers
Takes care of the contracts
Communicates between you and the title company
Recommends a lender
Helps with the negotiations
Helps you understand the market and set a realistic price
After you read this list you can decide for yourself if selling your home is something you can handle yourself. It isn’t for everyone, but for some it is a way to possibly sell quicker and/or make more money.
I found this article on the For Sale By Owner website, on how to sell your home yourself. It is filled with ideas and directions in case you do decide to sell yourself.

Moving With Children – Understanding Your Children
Comments Off on Moving With Children – Understanding Your Children
I wanted to bring you something about moving with children and as I searched around and read pieces of several articles it became clear that there really are some clear-cut things you can do to understand your children during your move and to make things much easier for them and yourself. I came upon an article from Iowa State University that breaks things down into age groups with strategies for each set. I know if you are reading this that you feel it is important to help your children adjust to their new home, and to understand what they are going through….
Understanding Children, Moving To A New Home
Although moving has become a common event for American families, it is a “moving” experience in more ways than one. No matter how often families change
residence, moving brings with it a variety of emotions and situations. One out of five American families moves each year, and most of those moves are within the same community or to a neighboring state. Read More

If you are looking for cool things to do in Austin, you’ll want to visit the Inner Space Cavern! It is located 20 miles north of Austin in beautiful Georgetown. The story goes that in 1963 the Texas Highway department was drilling through 40 feet of solid limestone when they came upon what is now the Inner Space Cavern. One of the employees was lowered into the cave while standing on the drill bit. What a cool thing to see!
“Inner Space Cavern is one of the best preserved caves in Texas and one of the few places where remains of prehistoric animals were unearthed.”
Now the cave is available for us to tour…
Inner Space Cavern offers three different tours to entice visitors of all ages. Choose from our classic Adventure Tour, our thrilling Explorer’s Tour, or our challenging Wild Cave Tour. Round Rock Real Estate Update July 2012
Comments Off on Round Rock Real Estate Update July 2012
The Round Rock Real Estate Update July 2012 is furnished to us by Lora Tucker Kaasch, Realtor® – The GoodLife Team
It’s that time again! Time to get up-to-speed on what real estate is doing ‘round town. Round Rock continues to out-pace, out-perform and out-sell most all other national markets. It’s more than just us that have fallen in love with our beautiful neighborhoods!
This report uses Round Rock home sales data* based on transactions that closed in July, 2012, and compares it to closings that took place during the same period last year. Traditionally, closings occur four to six weeks after a contract is executed. For that reason, the sales activity you see here trails the actual market conditions just slightly.
If asked to narrow the market activity to the most profound monthly statistic, it would be how fast homes are selling. Days on market for homes in our area have slimmed to 48 days. Start to finish – that’s incredibly fast! More perspective – that’s a 35.8% drop from 12 months ago! Homes are moving at near break-neck speed, and sellers are garnering 96.3% of their original asking prices.
The number of new listings in July has climbed to 316, an 18.4% jump from the same period last year. Even with more listings entering the market, demand continues to outpace supply, and detached single family home inventory figures are dropping. In fact, inventory is down over 20.8% from July, 2012, from 893 to 707 homes.
Home prices are nudging higher; the median sales price in Round Rock went from $214,250 in June, 2012, to $215,000 in July.
Interest rates remain at historical lows, and it appears that the current rate atmosphere will continue into the foreseeable future. If you have questions about the real estate market in our beautiful community or about homes in general, I am ready to provide you with unparalleled expertise and seasoned insight.
